Frequently Asked Questions

Organized answers for customers who need repair, maintenance, commercial service or help understanding common treadmill problems.

Service & Scheduling

How to request repair and what information helps us respond faster.

Yes. Onsite Fitness Service provides mobile in-home repair for treadmills, ellipticals, exercise bikes, steppers, rowers, strength equipment and other common fitness machines.

Send your equipment type, brand, model number, serial number if available, ZIP code, contact information and a short description of the problem.

  • Error codes on the display
  • Noises, smells, slipping or stopping
  • Whether the unit powers on
  • Whether you already have parts

The model number helps identify the exact machine and may help determine parts availability before scheduling service. A photo of the model sticker can be helpful.

Scheduling follow-up is typically handled by text or email so your equipment information, model details and service notes can be reviewed clearly.

Repair Questions

Common signs that your treadmill or fitness equipment needs service.

A slipping belt may be caused by belt tension, belt wear, deck issues, drive belt problems, lack of lubrication or other mechanical issues. Avoid over-tightening the walking belt because that can create additional strain on the equipment.

Belt shifting can happen when the rear roller adjustment is off or when the belt is not tracking properly. Minor adjustments may correct the tracking, but the belt should not be over-tightened.

If the belt continues to move, slips, smells hot, or the machine struggles, schedule professional service before more damage occurs.

Burning smells or heat can come from friction, dust buildup, a dry walking deck, motor strain, belt drag, control board issues or worn components. Stop using the machine and request service if the smell continues.

Yes. Onsite Fitness Service also repairs ellipticals, exercise bikes, steppers, rowers, strength equipment and many residential or commercial fitness machines.

Maintenance & Belt Care

Important treadmill maintenance basics and lubricant safety.

Lubrication helps reduce friction between the walking belt and deck. A dry deck can increase strain on the drive motor and control board, which can lead to expensive repair problems.

No. Do not use WD40, 3-in-One Oil, Vaseline or non-approved lubricant on a treadmill belt. Use manufacturer-recommended treadmill belt lubricant.

The wrong lubricant can damage the belt, deck or internal components.

Yes. If debris is under the walking belt, the deck should be cleaned before applying lubricant. Debris can create friction and interfere with proper belt movement.

Light-use home equipment may need maintenance about once per year. Heavier-use home machines and commercial fitness rooms may need maintenance every 6 months or more often depending on usage.

Commercial Service

Support for gyms, apartments, hotels, schools, offices and fitness rooms.

Yes. Onsite Fitness Service provides commercial fitness equipment service for gyms, hotels, schools, apartments, offices, athletic facilities and corporate fitness rooms.

Commercial service can include diagnostics, troubleshooting, belt adjustments, lubrication, recalibration, under-the-hood cleaning, exterior cleaning and maintenance recommendations.

Yes. Monthly, bi-monthly and quarterly preventive maintenance options may be available depending on facility usage, number of machines and service needs.

Parts & Warranty

Helpful answers about parts, warranty status and repair expectations.

If parts are needed, the technician can help identify the likely part issue and explain the next step. Model number and serial number information can help with part research.

In many cases, yes. When requesting service, tell us whether you already have parts and provide details about the machine and the part you want installed.

If your equipment is under warranty, include that information when requesting service. Warranty coverage depends on the manufacturer and the specific part or issue involved.

Onsite Fitness Service serves Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus and surrounding Ohio areas for residential and commercial fitness equipment service.
